The nature of Wisdom

Wisdom 7:22b - chapter 8:1

IECOT edition (2019, Kohlhammer, Stuttgart)

In her, there is a spirit

that is intelligent and holy,

unique,

manifold,

subtle,

mobile,

clear,

undefiled,

pure,

harmless,

loving the good,

sharp,

unhindered,

beneficent,

the friend of humanity,

secure,

stable,

free from troubles,

who can do all and survey all,

who penetrates through all the spirits

that are intelligent, pure, and very subtle.

Wisdom is more mobile than any motion.

Through her pureness

she pervades and penetrates everything.

She is a breath of the power of God,

a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty

so that nothing defiled can enter her.

She is a reflection of eternal light

and a spotless mirror of the

working of God, an image of his goodness.

Since she is one, she can do everything.

Though remaining in herself,

she renews everything

and across the generations,

entering holy souls,

she prepares friends of God

and prophets!

For God loves nothing more than

the one who dwells with wisdom.

Indeed, she is more splendid

than the sun and superior to

every constellation.  Compared

with the light, she is found

to be superior: for it is

succeeded by night, but

over wisdom, evil cannot prevail.

She extends mightily from one

end to the other and governs

the universe with goodness!
