The CBS veteran news reporter / specialist
first asks her about the date of deployment to Chicago
and what "using L.A. deployment as a model" mean.
Her reply : I won't disclose the details . . .
O'Keefe clarifies -- will National Guard troops back up
the ICE agents in Chicago as they did in Los Angeles?
Secy. Noem: I won't speak to the specifics of the operation. . .
O'Keefe: . . .You said L.A. "wouldn't be standing without
the deployment of the CA National Guard backing the ICE
agents" ? ? ?
Noem: we have arrested 5,000 dangerous criminals there . . .
horrendous crimes, trafficking of children, violence, drugs. . .
Give credit to the work of Pres. Trump and his administration. . .
VIDEO of Q/A with Gov. Pritzger of Illinois
O'Keefe: Madame Secy, your response:
Noem: For 13 years, Chicago had more murders than any other
city. . .I was a governor and I recognize the responsibility to
families, aunts, cousins, parents, . . .
O'Keefe: Are you planning to expand these operations to other
cities in all 50 states? For example, will Boston be next?
Noem: We haven't taken anything off the table. We'll make sure
we have the resources to go in and protect those innocent family
members . . .We make agreements all across the country with
sheriffs, city officials, . . .
O'Keefe : you've mentioned Democratic-majority cities but nothing
about Dallas, Oklahoma City which are Republican mayors and governors
cities in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi which also have high crime
rates / murder statistics. . .Are there plans to go to "Red Cities" / States
in this kind of way?
Noem: Absolutely, Every city. . .
O'Keefe: You plan to hire 10,000 new agency employees, cutting training
down from 13 weeks to 8 weeks. Signing bonuses, age caps have been
released. . .Did the hiring standard lower in order to meet the 3,000 arrest
quota per day?
Noem: We are hiring retired law enforcement that already have been
trained . . .
O'Keefe -- example of Kilmar Abrego Garcia -- threat to deport to Uganda
shouldn't he face charges here in THIS country?
// Noem: We will let Pamela Bondi's department make those decisions . . .
he was a known MS-13 gang member . . .a wife-beater, perverted who
solicited nude photos from his fellow traffickers . . .we will consider
all options to deport him. . .to Uganda or where, just not in this country.
Questions on FEMA and 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina . . .
We are more prepared than the last administration to face a catastrophic
emergency / disaster . . .we've done better with the 20 that he's faced
since becoming President . . .Texas, New Mexico, North Carolina. . .
O'keefe: what about recent or retired FEMA managers
who wrote to Congress this week?
Don't you specifically review each of the $100,000 and greater decisions
for spending by FEMA yourself?
NOEM: 5-minute expounding on past scandal-type contracts on meal
delivery and meeting scheduler where email would have sufficed . .
[ clarification of O'Keefe question on letter sent to Congress ]
NOEM: those were not long-term FEMA employees . . .

CBS News editing has been criticized for its handling of this
Q / A just as it was for the 60 Minutes piece that Trump himself
failed to participate in on Oct. 2024 . . .
