No sudden lightning strikes nor car-power pole accidents were being reported in the media afterward -- the lack of power near sundown and until 11 p.m. was inconvenient but just unpleasant and not without some ways to adjust and sit outdoors until the "lights came back on".
It is a hassle to find one's way around without flashlight and hand-held candlelighter; it makes us eager to get oil lamps that can be quickly lit for the next round of sudden surprises.
