Diwali
is a five-day festival on the new
moon between mid-October and
mid-November according to the
Hindu lunar calendar. Celebrated
by Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, Hindus.
It is a most important "row of
Lights" festival involving
small clay oil lamps are lit to
signify the victory of good over evil.
It is believed that during Diwali
Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth
visits the house and blesses it.
It commemorates and celebrates
the homecoming of the Hindu
god Ram and his wife, Seeta,
after 14 year of exile, and his
victory over the evil king Ravana.
