Your words against me have
been harsh, Yahweh said.
But you have said, "How have we
spoken against you?"
You have said, "It is futile to serve
God! What profit [is there] because
we have kept his charge, or because
we have paraded mournfully before
Yahweh of Hosts? So now we
consider the arrogant fortunate.
Not only have those doing evil been
built up, but also they have tested
God and escaped!"
Then the fearers of Yahweh spoke
together, each one with his companion.
And so Yahweh took notice and he
listened. A book of remembrance was
recorded in his presence, [enrolling]
the fearers of Yahweh and those
esteeming his name.
"They will be mine," Yahweh of
Hosts has said, "a prized possession
during the day when I act. Then
I will show compassion upon them,
even as a man shows compassion
for his son, the one who serves him.
Once again you will see the difference
between a righteous and a wicked
one, between one who serves God,
and one who has not served him."
"For indeed, the day is coming,
burning like an oven, when all
[the] arrogant and all evildoers
will be stubble. And this coming
day will devour them,"
Yahweh of Hosts has said, "so that
it will leave them neither a root
nor a branch. But a sun of
righteousness will arise
for you, those revering
my name; and healing
[is] in her wings. And
so you will go out and
you will frisk about like
stall-fed calves. And you
will trample the wicked,
indeed they will be ashes
beneath the soles of your
feet, during the day I
am preparing," Yahweh of
Hosts has said.
4:4 (Appendix)
Remember the Torah of Moses my
servant, whom I commanded at
Horeb on behalf of all Israel --
[the] statutes and [the] ordinances!
4:5 (Second appendix)
See! I am sending Elijah the
prophet to you before the coming
Day of Yahweh -- the great and the
terrible [day]! And he will turn
the heart of the forefathers toward
the[it] descendants and the heart
of the descendants toward their
forefathers; or else [when] I come
I will strike the land [with] a curse
[for destruction].
