As of May 27 TV news reporting
ABC News reporter Mary Kekatos
cites 22 cases reported to Center for
Disease Control & Prevention, in
contrast to 100 new cases reported
at official medical reporting (state
depts. of health) over a week in late
April 2025.
Public health experts attribute this to
a mix of initial vaccinations / higher
vaccination to raise the herd immunity,
and people/families staying at home when
sick / contagious / showing manifest symptoms.
The insulated Mennonite community in
W. Texas is one locale where the virus
has likely run through those families
with children (never-vaccinated). Recently
Nebraska became the 32nd State to report
a case of Measles unrelated to the New
Mexico, W. Texas original epicenter
and transmission.
