in the 1984 Presidential election; he chose as running-mate

Geraldine Ferraro of NY (a congresswoman)

to historically bring a woman to the ticket as co-nominee.

WHEREAS, in 2000 (before GOP Convention to

nominate George W. Bush as Presidential nominee)

Cheney accepted the VP slot after helping George W.

Bush narrow his VP selections down to one potential

successor : himself.
