The Hill reports at 8:30 p.m. April 14, 2025
that the U.S. Government is slapping a 21 percent
tariff on the Tomato crop coming from Mexico
in the summer.
Commerce Department (Secy. Howard Lutnick)
said on Monday that Trump 2.0 - Vance will withdraw
from the 2019 U.S. - Mexico - Canada trade agreement
it negotiated during the Trump - Pence first term (2017 -
Jan. 19, 2021).
This announcement marks an end to the compromise with
then-Mexican officials that included enforcement
provisions and inspection mechanisms and ways to
establish prices for various types of the agricultural commodity.
