Southern Magnolia tree will be cut down
this week at White House -- it has stood
almost 2 centuries -- planted by incoming
President Andrew Jackson as he took office
in 1829.
UPDATE: The Hill dot-com
reports the tree nearly 200 years old was
removed from the 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
"House of the People" / Executive Mansion
in District of Columbia -- another tree will
be planted there that is an "offspring sapling".
