Ryan Holiday, scheduled as Stutt lecturer, U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD)

Podcaster / author of "The Obstacle is the Way"

The lecturer had been scheduled April 14

to give a Lecture on the VIRTUES of STOICISM

to the entire sophomore class concerning "Wisdom".

Instead of giving him the academic freedom to address

what would be a memorable presentation in these times

fraught with trade wars and constitutional uncertainties,

the lecture to the sophomores and a separate address to

the Football Team (on themes from his books on

STOICISM) was cancelled at the last hour beforehand.

Prof. Holiday wrote an Op-Ed for the NY TIMES

As a bookstore owner in Texas, Ryan Holiday often cites Seneca, Roman

philosopher and statesman,

We ought to read like a spy in the

enemy's camp.

He goes on to distinguish the banning

from the Naval Academy's library the

autobiographical novel, I Know Why The

Caged Bird Sings; another about black

soldiers in W.W. II; another about how

women killed in the Holocaust are portrayed;

lastly, a novel reimagining Kafka titled

The Last White Man.
