Aftermath of Book Banning effort led by Secy. of Defense Hegseth : Naval Academy Library

381 Books were banned one day ahead of the

visit by the newly confirmed Secy. of Defense

early this winter; the Fleet Admiral that Library

is named after

Chester W. Nimitz (5-star naval

hero of W.W. II, who graduated

from the Naval Academy in 1905).

His granddaughter, Sarah, in an interview

said: "I think he would have expected

honest pushback.  He never thought

the Academy would fold."

At least 2 members of the faculty

have resigned in protest of the book

ban and 18 of the faculty have opted

for early retirement, according to

several campus officials.

Also recently in the cross-hairs of

the book banners was Documentarian

Ken Burns : who was bringing to

the Naval Academy privately to

a select group of midshipmen his

2025 documentary on the American

revolution.  In late March this year,

that April 22 event was ordered

re-scheduled to next year, after an

initial order to cancel the showing.
