Ever since the 2017 abandonment of the
Iran Nuclear Treaty by then-POTUS 45
[Trump 1.0] in 2017, the United States
has not had "direct" nuclear reduction
negotiations with the Iranian government.
This Saturday April 12, 2025 a last-ditch
effort at talks will take place in Oman (one
of the Arab Emirates). see further

Iranian officials confirmed the Trump-Vance administration
announcement, adding that if the initial talks are
respectful and productive, then direct talks will continue.

Trump (April 7) at joint Press Conference with Israel's P.M. Netanyahu spoke vaguely if not obtusely about the progress or implied threat to Iran of these
historic talk that would re-orient U.S. - Iran - Israel relations:
I thing everybody agrees that doing a deal would be preferable to doing the obvious. . .and the obvious is not something I want to be involved with, or
frankly that Israel wants to be involved with, if they can avoid it. . .so we are going to see if we can avoid it, but it's getting to be very dangerous territory"
