Original Publication from Almanac makers Benjamin Franklin and Robert S. Thomas (founder 1792)

Becky bought me yesterday (it went on sale for the "new" year on Tuesday September 7) -- the Old Farmer's Almanac calculated on a new and improved plan for the year of our Lord 2011.

Published by Yankee Publishing Incorporated, Dublin, NH (website is almanac dot-com).  The 219th sequential publication features chapters and items in its 256 pages that range from a "Reader Essay Contest" to astronomical articles on Eclipses, Bright Stars, The Twilight Zone and Meteor Showers, The Visible Planets, and The Light of the Silvery Moon.  I will be sure to read in its entirety the special report titled "Good Manners: What's Changed, What Hasn't, & What to Do Now."

From Baker's Best column you can read and try recipes such as "Ultimate To-Die-For Chocolate Cookies," "Skillet Peach Pie," "Cranberry Beet Cake," and "Monkey Bread."  As is the pattern for such a conglomeration of farm and sky-viewing data, there are also included cures for headaches, weather forecasts for 16 regions of the United States (in great detail), and best fishing days and times.

It's well worth the $5.99 retail price and may be discounted at a superstore discount store near you.
