It was all about the Detroit Tigers Thursday night (October 6) as Game 5 versus the New York Yankees was the most watched American League Division Series game on cable TV.
Tvbythenumbers is reporting that nearly 10 million viewers tuned in to the record-setting game. It was the most watched LDS game in cable television history and the most watched LDS game on television since 2005 (Game 5 Yankees/Angels).
The most impressive numbers were the ones coming out of the Detroit market. Researchers show that in New York, the game registered an 18.3 household rating, while Detroit notched a 27.6 household rating.
Additionally, based on metered market ratings, TBS was the highest-rated cable network last night, while ranking third among all networks.
So how did the games strongest competition fair? The X Factor (FOX Singing Competition) brought in about 12 million viewers. However, according to show creator Cowell, it is suppose to be bringing in 20 million. It looks like the country is turning to baseball over another music competition.
The Tigers will face off against Texas on Saturday. The networks can take a deep breath because Saturday nights are the least competitive on television.
