On this date in History (Oct. 2, 1967): Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall

Thurgood Marshall was sworn as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court as the Court opened its new term. He was the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court and is still recognized for his influence on the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision.
