Psalm 135: a 21st Century translation by Miriyam Glazer, Ph.D. (2009)

Included in her book Psalms of the Jewish Liturgy (Avi Press):
Hallelu-Yah!
Praise the name Adonai;
Praise, those who worship Adonai, who stand here in the house of Adonai,
here in the courtyard of our God!
Hallelu-Yah!  For Adonai is good.
Sing to God's name for it is pleasant,
for Adonai has chosen Jacob and Israel as the treasured one.
O, I know Adonai is great, our God so beyond all other gods.
Adonai desires then does all: in the heavens and earth, in the seas, the ocean depths --
gathering clouds from the ends of the earth,
making lightning bolts when it rains,
unleashing the winds from their heavenly vaults.
This God smote the firstborn of Egypt, human and beast;
sent signs and wonders into the midst of Egypt,
into Pharaoh's midst, and all his servants --
smote many nations and killed mighty kings -
Sihon, king of the Amorites; Og, king of Bashan -
and all the kingdoms of Canaan,
giving their lands to Israel as an inheritance, as an inheritance
for the people of God.
Adonai, Your name is forever;
Adonai, generation after generation, will remember You!
For You, Adonai, are just with Your people,
and show compassion to all who worship You.
The idols of nations are silver and gold,
wrought by human hands --
They have mouths but cannot speak, they have eyes but cannot see;
they have ears but cannot hear; nor can they breathe with their mouth.
Their makers and those who trust in them are just like them.
O house of Israel, bless Adonai!
O house of Aaron, bless Adonai!
O house of Levi, bless Adonai!
All who believe in Adonai, bless Adonai!
Blessed be Adonai dwelling in Jerusalem on Zion!  Hallelu-Yah!
