Gov. Rick Snyder sports a
cast after injuring Achilles (Jan. 11, 2015):
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder
arrived at Cobo Center today with a cast on his right foot and ankle, after
tearing an Achilles tendon Wednesday while jogging on vacation in Florida.
Snyder, 56, said he will
have to wear the cast and walk around in crutches for about six weeks and hopes
to avoid surgery, but must avoid putting weight on it in the meantime.
Known for walking at a brisk pace, Snyder told
the Free Press in an interview today that he decided to take up running, with
the notion joining his children at in a 5K (3.1-mile) race in the near future.
On his fourth day of running, he was upping the distance to "a couple of miles"
when he injured the tendon.
