Cold air pouring southward will result in a covering of snow and slushy roads in some areas to the lee of the Great Lakes into the Appalachians into Saturday.
Bands of lake-effect snow will continue over portions of Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and southwestern Ontario, depositing up to a few inches in narrow areas.
Up to a few inches of wet snow is also forecast to fall over the high ground and non-paved areas in the Appalachians, according the winter weather experts Rob Miller and Mike Pigott.
While most paved surfaces in the region will be wet, some slippery and slushy areas will develop and will not be limited to secondary roads.
