Mordechai Cogan on Page 9 of
II Kings (a new translation with
Introduction and Commentary)
Volume 11 of ANCHOR BIBLE Series,
Doubleday (1960s forward) explains
Unlike other books of
the Bible -- for example,
Samuel, Isaiah, Psalms --
extensive copies of which
were discovered at Qumran
by the Dead Sea,
only scattered fragments of
a scroll of II Kings have been
identified, and these reflect
a text which varies only
slightly from the Massoretic
version / textual type.
