When was
Harvard founded?
The university, first in
the colonies, was founded
October 28, 1636.
Only after the drafting,
signing and ratification
of the U.S. Constitution
can people agree that the
United States was "founded"
in 1787. Its first President,
George Washington, and first
Vice President John Adams
would take office along with
the First CONGRESS and
the First Supreme Court
in 1788 (Presidents serve only
4-year terms, are re-elected
only once*).
