Peru -- festival of the Sun -- held in Cusco,
high in the Andes Mountains in Southern
Peru.
Also celebrated in other parts of Peru,
throughout South America, across the world.
The festival's centerpiece annually takes place
on
June 24, the actual day.
Indigenous Peruvian
dishes steam from
decorated tables:
escabeche (fish
that is poached or
fried, then marinated
before serving) and
mazamorra (a corn,
fruit, and spices
pudding similar to
spoon pudding).
