The Niles Outdoor Eating Experience, or ‘NODE,’ was officially taken down earlier today.
What was once the Niles outdoor dining experience on North Second and East Main is no more.
But what does the future hold for this popular hangout?
It came about in late 2020, and officially opened on December 17th.
But now, the NODE is gone, at least for now.
"We think temporary. The NODE came out of a desire to help businesses during a really difficult time during the pandemic, so a chance to try and get people downtown and try to encourage some investment, try to help our restaurants who had gone through a really difficult time because of it," said Jeff Rea, President and CEO of the Niles Chamber of Commerce.
Rea says that it can be very difficult for people to do anything outside in Southwest Michigan in the winter, much less eat.
