Six local bands (PB&J, Bride of Fleckenstein, Zoo Wave, Mike Noise and more) to play at March 1 concert for Flood Victims, 7 p.m. Papa Pete's

from Michigan Live! dot-com (Kalamazoo):

In an effort to raise money for victims of recent flooding in Kalamazoo, six local bands and DJs will perform at a benefit concert Thursday.

The all-ages show will be March 1 at Papa Pete's, 502 S. Burdick St. in Kalamazoo, MI. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

The lineup includes: acoustic trio Bride of Fleckenstein, new wave cover band Zoo Wave, yacht rock cover band West Coast Gold, Celeste Allison, PB&J Band and Mike Noise.

Donations of any amount will be taken at the door and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross.

Bryan Stewart, a musician in the band PB&J, said he had the idea for the concert last Thursday when he saw the severity of the flooding.

"I knew there was something that needed to be done in Kalamazoo to help out," Stewart said.

He posted on Facebook to find musicians to participate and had several bands express interest. Stewart had to turn some musicians away to keep the concert from going all night. The event is supposed to end around 12:30 a.m.

"Hopefully a lot of people turn out for this, it should be a good time," Stewart said.

According to the National Weather Service, 3 to 4 inches of rain fell within 48 hours last week in the Kalamazoo River basin -- one of the top three rain events on record for December through February.
