Sky Almanac data: Month of September 2014 events to watch for (Almanac dot-com)

The full Harvest Moon comes quite early this year on the night of the 8th.
The Moon and Uranus are very close together on the 10th; use binoculars to see the Green Planet in Pisces.
Optimally observe the Milky Way, splitting the sky from north to south, at nightfall from dark rural sites between the 15th and the 26th.
Watch for three fine late-month lunar conjunctions: On the 20th, the Moon meets returning Jupiter at 5:00 A.M.; on the 27th, it accompanies departing Saturn, just 10 degrees above the western horizon, and on the 29th, it visits the esoteric constellation Ophiuchus to hover right above magnitude 0.8 Mars at nightfall.
The equinox brings autumn on the 22nd at 10:29 P.M.
