Asteroid approaches Earth (2014 RC)

from Publicity in Detroit Free Press (www.freep.com/ ):
An asteroid will come within 25,000 miles of Earth on Sunday September 7, 2014, but don't panic — NASA says it doesn't pose a threat.
The asteroid, known as 2014 RC, will pass over New Zealand about 2:18 p.m. Eastern Time Zone on Sunday. From its reflected brightness, astronomers estimate that the asteroid is about 60 feet in size.
"While this celestial object does not appear to pose any threat to Earth or satellites, its close approach creates a unique opportunity for researchers to observe and to learn more about asteroids," NASA said in a statement.
The asteroid won't be visible to the naked eye, but those with small telescopes might catch a glimpse.
In June 2014, a giant asteroid astronomers named "The Beast" flew within 777,000 miles of Earth at speeds of up to 31,000 mph.
