and died in Israel 2 1/2

March 8, 2023 in his

hometown of Tel Aviv.

He was the first Israeli

actor to be nominated for

"Best Actor" at the Academy

Awards.  He appeared in that

famous role TEVYE for 

over 2,500 stage performances

of Fiddler on the Roof.
