His debut album recorded in 1972 was Welcome to Asbury Park, NJ
His Academy Award was for the song "Streets of Philadelphia" (1993)
for the Jonathan Demme-directed dramatic film Philadelphia .
Springsteen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
Given Kennedy Center Honors in 2009 along with Robert De Niro,
Dave Brubeck, Mel Brooks, and Grace Bumbry. Received Presidential
Medal of Freedom Nov. 22, 2016 by President Barack Obama along
with 20 other recipients, the largest group of the 8-year Obama presidency.
Also received 2021 National Medal of the Arts in Washington, D.C.
