The water level is dropping 4 feet each year
the main part of the lake is 950 feet deep (15% shallower and 1/3 of the
surface area measured 50 years ago (1972 survey))
as the lake recedes it changes the landscape in ways both
beautiful and ominous
SOLUTIONS have been proposed but no action taken
Difficulties include climate change + sinkholes and abandonment of
previous resorts and tourist locales
