Needed repairs to elevator for national Monument to First President (George Washington) - July 23 - 26, 2016
from WASH. POST online article:
The Washington Monument, which closed on Saturday because of elevator problems, will remain shut at least until Wednesday July 27, the National Park Service said.
Parts needed to repair the elevator will arrive Tuesday and are to be installed then, a park service spokesman said. Elevator operation has been halted many times by electrical problems. But the current problem has been described as mechanical, related to the hoist system.
