DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is inviting central Illinois citizens to learn more about hummingbirds during its Hummingbird Festival on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
The event will be held at Rock Springs Conservation Area [3939 Nearing Lane] from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Attendees will join host Vernon Kleen in learning more about hummingbirds, what attracts them, and how the birds are banded. Additionally, those in attendance may symbolically adopt a hummingbird for $5, receiving the bird's identification number and information in the process.
This event is free and open to the public.
Rock Springs Nature Center is located on the southwestern edge of Decatur, Illinois. To get to Rock Springs Center from Decatur go south on Route 48 and turn right onto Rock Springs Road. Watch for signs. Plenty of free parking is available.
