Two versions of the "Lord's Prayer" (Matthew 6 verses and Luke 11 verses)

 Classical languages and Koine Greek,

ancient language expert translator

Sarah Ruden

in her book

The Face of Water: a

translator on beauty &

meaning in the Bible (2017)

"Father, our father

in the heavens above,

Spoken in holiness must

be your name!

Into the world must come

your kingdom,

and into being whatever you

have willed, in heaven the

same way as here on earth.

The loaf of bread, our every

next loaf, give it to us today!

And free us from our debts,

Once we have - just as we have -

set out debtors free.  And

don't, we beg you, take us

into the ordeal -- No, save us!

Save us from the Evil One!

Luke 11 (Ruden translation)

Father,

Spoken in holiness

must be your name.

Into the world must come

your kingdom.

The loaf of bread, our

every next loaf,

give it to us day by day,

and free us from our

sins

as long as we free everyone

who owes us,

And,

We beg you,

Do not take us into the ordeal!
