 Knute Rockne at the

"golden age of the Early

20th Century" for College

Football acquired 105 wins

setting a gold standard for

a College Coach -- before his

tragic death in a plane crash

after departing Kansas City, KS

in 1930.  Rockne's tenure began

in 1918 and concluded in

March 1931 at his death

(he had won at the Rose Bowl

in 1925)
