Khamenei attended on July 5, 2025 an
annual Shiite religious ceremony
for Ashura, which was held at
his compound. He waved at the
surprised crowd but did not address
them who included the Vice-President,
Minister of Justice, and speaker of the
Parliament. Sunday July 6 marks the
end of a 10-day mourning period /

Iran's Ayatollah / Supreme Commander
is Ali Khamenei,
age 86, who has held supreme
power over the Iranian citizens
(just below 10 million: 95%
are Shiite Muslim with only 5%
Sunni Muslim, few religious
minority populations)
since June 4, 1989 - when
Ayatollah Khomenei died - 36
years ago. He served elected
office as "President" between
1981 - 1989. His remark following
the bombing by U.S. B-2 stealth
bombers and Navy Submarine missiles
was "War will be met with war,
bombing with bombing, and
strike with strike".
When the legislative body
"Assembly of Experts" forward their
vote of approval from the 3 successors
that Khamenei has forwarded,
the Islamic Republic of Iran will
have a next generation leader.
Khamenei has June 22nd suspended
communications (using his own
telecom devices) and will speak
only through a trusted aide since
he rightly fears Israeli assassination.
