Projects of the Heart: Pope Francis and Micro-Economics
Dr. William T. Cavanaugh
Professor, Catholic Studies
Director, Center for World Catholicism and Intercultural Theology
DePaul University
Dr. Cavanaugh's major areas of research include the Church's encounter with social, political, and economic realities. He is particularly interested in the social implications of traditional Catholic beliefs and practices, such as the Eucharist. He has authored 6 books, including Field Hospital: The Church's Engagement with a Wounded World (2016). His next book focuses on secularization and idolatry, exploring the ways in which a supposedly disenchanted Western society remains enchanted by nationalism, consumerism, and cults of celebrity.
