(Midrash Konen, Bet Ha-Midrash):
On the first day the Lord
took snow from under the
Throne of Glory, threw it
onto the water in the middle
of the world, and it became
the land, as it is said:
He commands the snow,
'Fall to the ground!' Job 37:6
Then he took the foundation
stone and hurled it into
the place designated for the
Temple and founded the world
upon it, as it is said:
Who set its cornerstone? Job
38:6
He called to the land and it
stood in its place, so that it
would not move here or there
as does a ship, as it is said:
God, the Lord God spoke and
called the land Psalm 50:1
Since the light of Jerusalem
and the Land of Israel shone
forth, it illuminated the Temple
first and from there spread to
light the entire world, as it is said:
From Zion, perfect in beauty,
God appeared Psalm 50:2
