Who will be TIME Magazine's "Person of the Year 2020"? Votes are sought online

from Detroit Free Press website article (Dec. 2020):

Time magazine is considering Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for its 2020 Person of the Year.

Whitmer has garnered national attention this year for her handling of the coronavirus and being the target of attacks from President Donald Trump. She was also included in President-elect Joe Biden's list of potential vice presidential candidates.

The FBI foiled a plot to allegedly kidnap and kill Whitmer, 49, in October. Over a dozen men were involved in the plan, which made international headlines.

Also nominated for Person of the Year is Dr. Anthony Fauci, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, Pope Francis and many more.

Time is taking the public's input. Readers can vote here. Time editors ultimately make the decision.

The Person of the Year graces the cover of the magazine in January.
