from WSBT weather update -- notice difference from Michigan county and Indiana area =
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect this afternoon for lake counties. It starts at 1 p.m. EST for Michigan and 4 p.m. EST for northern Indiana counties in purple in the graphic above.

WHAT WE EXPECT: This morning, light snow. This afternoon, winds shift and lake effect starts. Driving today won't be too bad. Tonight and tomorrow I expect a difficult commute at times for areas under snow bands.
Advisory ends Friday morning but lake effect sticks around through the day, Friday. All in all 6" - 10" on average during a prolonged period but locally higher amounts possible if your city gets stuck under a band.
