Anniversary of Key CIVIL WAR Turning Point (April 9 annually)

ON THIS DAY

On April 9, 1865, Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee
surrendered his army to Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant
at Appomattox Court House in Virginia.
