as a symbol,
in Joseph Smith's
Book of Mormon
the history of the Jaredite
people records that in their
travels to the New World,
"they did also carry with
them Deseret, which,
by interpretation, is a honey bee"
The symbol of the BEEHIVE
representing industry and communal
cooperation, was widely used by the
Latter-Day Saints during the
settlement of Utah. The SYMBOL
is used in both religious and
nonreligious contexts to emphasize
connections
with the Mormon PROPHETS.
