INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA21) - Gov. Eric Holcomb has extended the public emergency in Indiana for another month, with that measure now in effect through August.

His signature on Thursday enacts an Executive Order that continues directives that pertain to health care workers and facilities, certain state agencies and law enforcement.

No limits were placed on public gatherings and no mask mandates are in the new order, which reiterates the importance of vaccination, noting that "unvaccinated individuals are the most at risk for serious illness, hospitalization and death."

The public health emergency was declared in March 2020.

Since January, 98 percent of new COVID-19 cases involve unvaccinated individuals, he said.

As of Thursday, about 48 percent of all Hoosiers have received at least one dose of a vaccine, with 45 percent fully vaccinated.
