EAU CLAIRE, MI -- Niles resident Kevin Bartz won his second pit-spitting championship at the 46th annual Cherry Pit-Spitting Competition in Eau Claire Saturday.
Bartz’s 54-foot, 3-inch victorious spit marks one of the few competitions in the last 40 years where a non-Krause family member has won.
The Krause family, led by Rick “Pellet Gun” Krause, has won 30 of the last 40 pit-spitting competitions. Bartz is a biology teacher and the head coach of the Edwardsburg varsity football team. He won his first championship in 2015.
